Arcline Investment Management Acquires Continental Aerospace Technologies in $535M Deal
In a landmark deal for the general aviation industry, Arcline Investment Management — a growth-oriented private equity firm managing over $30 billion in assets — has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Continental Aerospace Technologies, Inc. for approximately $535 million. This significant move brings the storied engine manufacturer back to American ownership after more than a decade under Chinese state control.
Founded in 1905 and headquartered in Mobile, Alabama, Continental is one of the most recognized names in general aviation propulsion. The company designs, manufactures, and supports both AvGas and Jet-A piston engines, powering thousands of aircraft worldwide. These include:
- Beechcraft Bonanzas
- Cessna 210s
- Cirrus SR20s
- Piper PA-34s
The seller is Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), which has controlled the company through Hong Kong-listed holding subsidiaries.
Arcline stated the acquisition aligns with its aerospace and defense investment strategy. The firm plans to partner with Continental’s management team to drive continued growth. J.P. Morgan Securities is serving as exclusive financial advisor to Arcline, while Freshfields LLP is acting as legal counsel. No closing date has yet been disclosed, and the deal is subject to regulatory approval under the Hong Kong Takeovers Code.
