Viking Cruises Welcomes New $200M Luxury Mediterranean Vessel
Viking Cruises has proudly taken possession of its latest luxury ocean vessel, the Viking Mira. This event took place at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona, Italy, signifying a key milestone in Viking’s European expansion strategy.
The Viking Mira, a 54,300-ton ship, boasts 499 stately staterooms, capable of accommodating up to 998 passengers. During its inaugural season, it will operate premium itineraries throughout the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. The ship’s maiden voyage is slated for June 5, 2026, embarking on a seven-night “Iconic Mediterranean” cruise from Rome to Barcelona.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Viking Mira to our elegant fleet of small sister ships,” stated Leah Talactac, President and CEO of Viking. “Our guests are curious travelers, and the arrival of a new ship allows us to offer them even more opportunities to explore the world in Viking comfort.”
Constructed in compliance with the most recent international safety regulations, the Viking Mira is equipped with advanced propulsion systems. These are designed to reduce emissions and minimize environmental impact. This delivery further solidifies the enduring partnership between Fincantieri and Viking, which originated in 2012 and now includes 26 vessels in total.
