Oklahoma Greenlights Monumental $520M Airport Enhancement Plan

The Oklahoma Aerospace and Aeronautics Commission has given the green light to an ambitious $520 million, five-year airport construction program. This transformative initiative will revolutionize aviation infrastructure across the Sooner State through 2031.

The comprehensive plan, endorsed during the Commission’s meeting on May 13, is set to fund a total of 176 infrastructure developments. These include 99 specific pro-growth projects that will bring about terminal upgrades, runway extensions, and new hangars at airports throughout Oklahoma.

“This plan represents a bold, pro-growth vision for Oklahoma and continues our leap into the global aerospace economy,” stated Grayson Ardies, ODAA executive director. “We’re not just maintaining runways — we’re building a world-class network capable of supporting next-generation commercial aircraft and pioneering aerospace industry operations.”

The key projects under this program are:

  • Construction of new hangars at Chickasha Municipal Airport
  • Terminal upgrades at Watonga Municipal Airport and Ponca City Regional Airport
  • Major developments at Infinity One Oklahoma Spaceport to support New Zealand-based Dawn Aerospace’s suborbital flight operations

The program amalgamates federal, state, and local funds to enhance safety measures and stimulate local economies statewide.
