MAC Cosmetics: A Historic Debut at Sephora U.S. After 41 Years
In a landmark retail partnership, MAC Cosmetics officially launched at Sephora U.S. stores and online on March 2, 2026. This marks the first time in the iconic brand’s 41-year history that it has been available at the prestige beauty retailer in the United States. The move is part of parent company Estée Lauder Companies’ broader turnaround strategy to expand distribution channels and reach younger consumers.
The makeup brand is now available at 105 top-performing Sephora stores, with plans to expand throughout 2026. Additionally, curated products are available at all 855 Sephora at Kohl’s locations. To celebrate the launch, MAC unveiled a new global campaign starring Chappell Roan, Gabbriette, and Quenlin Blackwell, highlighting the brand’s versatility from everyday beauty to bold glam.
Tara Simon, President of The Americas at Estée Lauder Companies, described the collaboration as the result of years of successful partnership with Sephora in global markets. The brand already operates within Sephora stores across Canada, Latin America, Europe, APAC, and the UK, making the U.S. launch a significant milestone in completing its global distribution strategy.
The partnership includes exclusive offerings, with Sephora receiving a two-month lead on MAC’s new Multisculpt Matte Liquid Colour for Eyes and Face. Industry analysts suggest the move helps MAC reach Gen Z shoppers while strengthening Sephora’s color cosmetics offerings during a resurgence in artistry-led beauty products.
