Summer Travel Peaks: Airlines Expand Routes

Major airlines are significantly expanding their route networks to meet the surging demand for summer travel. This expansion comes as the travel industry continues its post-pandemic recovery, with airlines responding to an unprecedented demand for international leisure travel.

JetBlue has launched new nonstop routes from Boston to Madrid, Spain and Edinburgh, Scotland. This marks the airline’s continued European expansion from Boston Logan International Airport.

Meanwhile, Qantas has announced a 20% capacity boost across the Tasman between Australia and New Zealand for December 2025 and January 2026. This will add around 60,000 additional seats.

Icelandair is adding four new destinations this fall, including:

  • Edinburgh
  • Malaga
  • Istanbul
  • Miami

They are also extending popular routes to Nashville and Hamburg.
