Stallion 51 Conducts Extensive Warbird Emergency Response Training for Firefighters

Stallion 51 Flight Operations, in collaboration with UAT, LLC, recently facilitated an intensive emergency extraction training program. The program was attended by 94 members of the Kissimmee Fire Department at the Kissimmee Gateway Airport. The training took place from January 20-22, 2026, focusing on equipping first responders with the necessary skills to handle potential emergencies involving historic warbird aircraft.

The bespoke training offered hands-on guidance on safe extraction of flight crews from three distinct aircraft types. These included the P-51 Mustang, T-6 Texan, and L-39 TurboJet. Each firefighter was given an in-depth understanding of the appropriate methods for efficiently and safely removing pilots from these high-performance aircraft during emergencies.

According to Lee Lauderback, Stallion 51’s founder and chief pilot, “The Kissimmee Fire Department certainly exceeded our expectations in every respect and once again proved why they are the best! Each person walked away having a better understanding of our team and how we can all work together in emergency situations.”

This event marks the third such training session conducted at Stallion 51’s facility over the past few years. The training is a part of the company’s comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS) program. Shaun Germolus, Director of Aviation at Kissimmee Gateway Airport, noted the significance of this training:

“The pro-activeness of this training provides great education for our first responders and ensures efficient responses for both on and off airport aircraft issues.”
