OpenAI Introduces Frontier: A Revolutionary Platform for Enterprise AI Agent Management

OpenAI introduced Frontier on Thursday, February 5, 2026. This comprehensive enterprise platform is designed to assist companies in building, deploying, and managing AI agents across their organizations. The launch signifies a substantial push by the AI leader into the enterprise market, with an aim to increase its business customer share from 40% to 50% by the end of the year.

Frontier treats AI agents as if they were human employees. It provides them with onboarding processes, shared business context, permissions management, and performance evaluation tools. The platform bridges the gap between siloed enterprise systems such as data warehouses, CRM platforms, and internal applications. This enables agents to access the information they need to perform complex tasks autonomously.

Early adopters of Frontier include notable companies like HP, Intuit, Oracle, State Farm, Thermo Fisher, and Uber. According to OpenAI, one global investment company deployed agents that freed up over 90% more time for salespeople to interact with customers. Meanwhile, a major manufacturer reduced production optimization work from six weeks to just one day using AI agents.

In a strategic shift, Frontier is built on open standards and can manage agents from any provider—not just OpenAI. This includes competitors like Google, Microsoft, and Anthropic. “Frontier is really a recognition that we’re not going to build everything ourselves,” said Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s CEO of Applications.

Frontier also includes enterprise-grade security features with SOC 2 Type II and ISO certifications, comprehensive audit logs, and explicit permission controls. OpenAI has also announced that it will pair customers with forward-deployed engineers to help establish best practices. Frontier is currently available to select enterprise customers, with a broader rollout planned for the coming months.
