Archer Aviation and NVIDIA: Forging a Path with AI-Powered Aircraft

At the renowned CES 2026 event in Las Vegas, Archer Aviation Inc. revealed a pioneering collaboration with NVIDIA. The partnership aims to develop and implement next-generation artificial intelligence technologies for aviation, utilizing the NVIDIA IGX Thor platform. This alliance signifies a considerable leap forward in infusing AI capabilities into electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

Archer has plans to incorporate NVIDIA IGX Thor, NVIDIA’s most potent safety-capable AI computing module, into future versions of its Midnight aircraft programs. The collaboration is centered around three core areas:

  1. Enhancing pilot safety and predictive awareness through real-time flight-path data processing,
  2. Developing seamless airspace integration systems with improved routing logic, and
  3. Building autonomy-ready flight controls capable of supporting future autonomous operations.

The aviation sector represents a high-impact domain for Physical AI, especially for advancing critical capabilities in aircraft safety and airspace integration. Archer is set to showcase its NVIDIA integration at its newly acquired Hawthorne airport in central Los Angeles. This location is expected to serve as the operational hub for Archer’s planned LA air taxi network and a testing ground for AI-powered aviation technologies. The companies have been collaborating since early 2025, with wider applications anticipated across manufacturing, fleet operations, and pilot training.
