MSC Cruises Unveils Extensive Upgrade for Bahamas Island
On January 28, 2026, MSC Cruises announced a significant upgrade to its private island destination, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve in the Bahamas. The ambitious enhancement project includes an extension of the island’s pier to accommodate two ships simultaneously, with completion slated for late 2027.
The enhancements will introduce four new dining venues, bringing the total to seven restaurants. Additionally, an exclusive adults-only beach, dubbed Paradise Sands, will be added. The Seakers Cove Family Beach will undergo a redesign, featuring new attractions such as:
- A kids’ playground
- Splashpad
- Ropes course with water elements
The island, which first opened its doors in December 2019, was transformed from a former industrial site into a pristine vacation destination, boasting over two miles of beachfront across eight beaches.
In 2023, Ocean Cay earned recognition as a Hope Spot by Mission Blue for its significant role in supporting biodiversity and marine life conservation. The MSC Foundation’s Marine Conservation Center, which opened in April 2025, serves as a hub for scientists and students dedicated to coral reef restoration through the Super Coral Reefs Program.
