Daher Introduces TBM 980: A Game-Changer with Touchscreen Cockpit

French aircraft manufacturer, Daher, has launched the TBM 980, a groundbreaking addition to its renowned single-engine turboprop family. The aircraft is equipped with Garmin’s state-of-the-art G3000 PRIME avionics system, boasting three 14-inch touchscreen displays.

The TBM 980 was revealed on January 15, 2026, at Daher’s production facility in Tarbes, France. This marks the sixth aircraft in the TBM 900-series since Daher took over the product line in 2014. Nicolas Chabbert, CEO of the Daher Aircraft Division, proudly stated, “Our TBM 980’s motto, ‘Fly Differently,’ is not just a slogan. This aircraft revolutionizes the flying experience for both pilots and passengers.

The TBM 980 continues to rely on the tried-and-tested Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6E-66XT turboprop engine, coupled with a five-blade Hartzell composite propeller. The game-changing touchscreen-controlled flight deck is a major leap forward in cockpit ergonomics. It offers customizable presets and a simplified user interface, significantly reducing pilot workload.

With a price tag of $5.82 million, the aircraft has earned certification from both EASA and the FAA. The first deliveries are set to commence this month. As of December 31, 2025, Daher has successfully delivered a total of 1,294 TBM aircraft worldwide.
