Gulfstream G500 & G600 Secure EASA Steep-Approach Certification

Gulfstream Aerospace proudly announced on Monday that its flagship business jets, the G500 and G600, have been granted steep approach landing certification by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). This significant milestone broadens operational flexibility for operators across Europe.

The EASA certification equips these aircraft with the ability to access more challenging airports worldwide. This includes key European locations such as London City Airport and Lugano Airport in Switzerland. The certification comes on the heels of similar approvals from the Federal Aviation Administration, which certified the G500 in 2023 and the G600 in 2024 for steep approach operations.

“Our customers already benefit from the groundbreaking performance and efficiency of the G500 and G600,” said Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream. “With the EASA steep-approach certification now in our pocket, we’re thrilled to offer European operators even greater fleet flexibility. This allows them access to more remote airports and destinations around the globe.”

To secure the certifications, both aircraft successfully demonstrated their steep-approach capabilities, showcasing low-speed handling and short-field landings during rigorous testing. Currently, there are over 350 G500 and G600 jets in service worldwide. The fleet has amassed over 350,000 flight hours and 173,000 landings.
