Joby Aviation Boosts Production with Additional Ohio Manufacturing Facility

Joby Aviation, a leading electric air taxi developer based in California, has recently announced its plans to acquire a second manufacturing facility in the Dayton, Ohio area. This expansion, which spans over 700,000 square feet, was officially announced on January 7, 2026, as the company gears up to increase the production of its eVTOL aircraft.

The new facility, which is ready for immediate use, is set to bolster Joby’s ambitious plans to double its production to four aircraft per month by 2027. This expansion also provides the capacity for significant future growth. Operations at the new factory are slated to commence later in 2026, supplementing Joby’s existing manufacturing sites in California and Ohio. The latter location began propeller blade production in October 2025.

“This site will not only support our near-term plan to double production, it can also serve as a base for significant future growth,” said JoeBen Bevirt, founder and CEO of Joby Aviation.

The company’s expansion comes as it moves closer to achieving FAA certification for commercial air taxi operations. This progress is backed by a substantial $894 million in funding from Toyota.
