Samsung Reveals Groundbreaking Creaseless Foldable Display at CES 2026
Samsung Display has unveiled a revolutionary creaseless foldable OLED panel at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. This innovation could potentially solve one of the most significant challenges in foldable smartphone technology – the visible crease that has been a persistent issue since the inception of foldable devices.
The cutting-edge technology employs a laser-drilled metal plate design. This design redistributes stress during folding, allowing the screen to bend without forming a visible crease. The display was showcased alongside the current Galaxy Z Fold 7. The difference was immediately apparent – the new panel appears completely smooth, even when viewed from different angles.
Although Samsung Display referred to it as an “R&D concept” with no fixed commercialization timeline, industry analysts suggest the technology could make its debut in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 later in 2026. Interestingly, the rumored iPhone Fold from Apple may be the first to utilize this technology. This is because Samsung Display supplies panels to various manufacturers. This innovation marks a significant turning point for foldable phones, addressing one of the most persistent complaints from consumers about current devices.
