Inspiring Young Aviators: EAA’s Youth Programs Reach Over 8,000 Participants

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) has proudly announced the participation of over 8,000 young enthusiasts in its youth education programs from November 1, 2024, to October 31, 2025. This achievement underscores the ongoing success of efforts to introduce the next generation to the exciting world of aviation.

These participation numbers reflect engagement across a variety of EAA’s youth initiatives. The flagship Young Eagles program, which has provided free introductory flights to more than 2.5 million young people since its inception in 1992, is a key contributor. Other ground-based educational activities include:

  • Young Eagles Workshops
  • Build and Fly sessions
  • Week-long Air Academy summer camps

In 2025, the EAA further expanded its youth education infrastructure. A new Youth Program Coordinator position was introduced for local chapters, and the AeroEducate Aviation Handbook was launched. This take-home activity booklet is designed to extend learning beyond introductory flights. The organization also conducted extensive outreach throughout Wisconsin, bringing aviation activities to classrooms, career fairs, libraries, and airports to make aviation education more accessible.

The summer Air Academy program featured six sessions in 2025, including two sessions of a new Discover Flight Camp. This camp places emphasis on flight instruments, meteorology, and airport operations. More than 260 campers attended across all sessions. The EAA continues to emphasize that aviation education helps young people develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills applicable to any career field, not just aviation.
