Bombardier’s Global 8000: The World’s Fastest Civilian Aircraft Earns FAA Approval
Bombardier’s Global 8000, holding the title of the world’s fastest civilian aircraft since the Concorde, proudly received its U.S. Federal Aviation Administration certification on December 19, 2025. This significant event marks a major milestone for the ultra-long-range business jet.
The Global 8000 boasts an industry-leading top speed of Mach 0.95 and a class-leading range of 8,000 nautical miles. This impressive range allows nonstop flights between more city pairs than any competing business jet. Additionally, the aircraft features the lowest cabin altitude in business aviation production at a mere 2,691 feet when cruising at 41,000 feet. This design significantly reduces the physiological stress typically associated with high-altitude travel.
“Attaining the Global 8000 certification from the FAA sets new performance standards in the industry and marks one of the final chapters in our very successful development program for this groundbreaking business jet,” said Stephen McCullough, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Product Development at Bombardier.
The aircraft had previously received Transport Canada Type Certification on November 5, 2025, and entered service in early December. The first Global 8000 was delivered to Canadian entrepreneur Patrick Dovigi on December 8. European Aviation Safety Agency certification remains pending.
