Bombardier’s Global 8000 Jet: A New Era in Business Aviation with FAA Certification

The ultra-long-range business jet, Bombardier’s Global 8000, has achieved a significant milestone. On December 19, it received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification, formally paving the way for customer deliveries in the United States, the world’s most significant market for business aviation.

With this certification, the Global 8000 has been recognized as the fastest civilian aircraft since the Concorde, capable of reaching a maximum speed of Mach 0.95. The aircraft showcases an impressive 8,000 nautical mile range and boasts the lowest cabin altitude of any business jet currently in production. At a mere 2,691 feet while cruising at 41,000 feet, it significantly reduces physiological stress on passengers during high-altitude travel.

This FAA certification follows the Transport Canada’s Type Certification issued on November 5. The first aircraft was delivered to Canadian entrepreneur Patrick Dovigi on December 8. The jet’s power comes from GE’s Passport 20 engines, each producing 19,000 pounds of thrust. It also features advanced leading-edge slats that allow it to access shorter runways and operate from approximately 30% more airports than comparable aircraft in its class.
