Poonawalla Fincorp’s CTO Steps Down Amidst Allegations of Workplace Harassment
Dhiraj Saxena, the Chief Technology Officer at Poonawalla Fincorp Limited, has stepped down from his role as of December 3. His resignation comes in the wake of alleged harassment and unwarranted interference by the company’s Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). The resignation, which was initially submitted in September, was made public through a regulatory filing on December 6.
In his resignation letter, Saxena expressed his concerns, stating: “I hereby resign from the post of Chief Technology Officer due to harassment and unnecessary interventions of the CHRO, which is impacting me in managing the IT function effectively and efficiently.” He further emphasized that this situation created “major unrest in the team, thereby impacting IT delivery” and that despite his attempts to collaborate, the other party lacked the intention to resolve issues.
Saxena, who joined Poonawalla Fincorp in 2023, brought with him extensive experience from esteemed institutions such as IDBI Bank, L&T Finance, and ICICI Bank. He was promoted to the position of CTO in March 2024. His departure underscores the ongoing leadership changes at the NBFC, which recently appointed new MD & CEO Arvind Kapil in June 2024 and CHRO Harsh Kumar in July 2024.
