Introducing the GB2 Stormbird: A Game-Changer in Aerial Firefighting

Game Composites, renowned for their GB1 aerobatic aircraft, has recently introduced the GB2 Stormbird. This innovative, all-composite, two-seater, low-wing aircraft is specifically designed to revolutionize aerial firefighting operations. The Stormbird signifies a remarkable advancement in fire suppression technology within the realm of general aviation.

The GB2 Stormbird, with a projected empty weight of 6,000 pounds and a maximum takeoff weight of 19,000 pounds, is designed to achieve a useful load more than double its empty weight. This provides a significant capability boost for firefighting missions. The design of the Stormbird is centered around efficiency and effectiveness, even in the most challenging aerial firefighting environments.

Flight testing for the GB2 Stormbird prototype is set to commence in late 2025. The first deliveries are planned for 2026, with FAA type certification expected to follow by 2027. The introduction of this aircraft addresses the escalating demand for specialized firefighting aircraft. This comes at a time when wildfire incidents are increasing in both frequency and intensity across the United States.
