The End of an Era: Textron Ceases Production of Iconic Bonanza & Baron
After an impressive run of nearly 80 years, Textron Aviation has announced the termination of its legendary Beechcraft Bonanza G36 and Baron G58 production lines. The completion of current orders will mark the conclusion of one of aviation’s most enduring production runs, initiated with the inaugural flight of the Model 35 Bonanza on December 22, 1945.
“As part of Textron Aviation’s product investment strategy, the company will cease production of the Beechcraft Baron G58 and Beechcraft Bonanza G36 models,” the manufacturer declared. The remarkable production history of these models has seen the delivery of more than 18,000 Bonanzas and 6,000 Barons worldwide.
This strategic shift enables Textron to channel resources towards the new Beechcraft Denali turboprop, a move reflecting evolving market demands. Sales had dwindled to a mere five Bonanzas and two Barons in 2024, a significant drop from peak production years. Despite halting production, Textron has pledged to provide ongoing parts support and maintenance for the thousands of aircraft still in operation globally.
