OVHcloud Bolsters European Cloud Infrastructure with New 3-AZ Region in Berlin
OVHcloud, a leading European cloud provider, announced today the launch of its first 3-AZ (three availability zones) region in Berlin, Germany. This move further cements its position as a sovereign cloud provider across Europe. The new facility is a continuation of similar deployments in Paris and Milan, marking OVHcloud’s third European 3-AZ region. These regions are specifically designed for critical applications that demand high availability and resilience.
The Berlin region is a response to the escalating demand from European organizations for strategic autonomy and data sovereignty. This is particularly true in highly regulated sectors such as finance, energy, and defense. Octave Klaba, OVHcloud CEO, underscored that European digital sovereignty necessitates “systemic players capable of operating on an international scale” rather than isolated champions.
OVHcloud has been present in Germany since 2005 with existing datacenters and serves major German clients including:
- Commerz Real
- ITSC
- Bundesagentur für Arbeit
- Bundespolizei
The company operates over 500,000 servers across 46 datacenters globally, serving 1.6 million customers in over 140 countries. It offers more than 80 cloud products across its 20 European datacenters.
