Ulta Beauty Unveils Groundbreaking Robotic Manicures in Collaboration with 10Beauty

BRAINTREE, Mass. – Ulta Beauty has made history by launching the first-ever robotic manicure service. This revolutionary offering is the result of a partnership with 10Beauty. The debut of this automated beauty service marks a significant milestone in the industry.

The five-step manicure machine, which took six years and $38 million in funding to develop, started operations on Wednesday at Ulta’s Braintree location. High-profile investors, including Victoria Beckham and Karlie Kloss, have backed this innovative project. Following Braintree, the next location to offer this service will be Everett, Mass.

The “10” machine performs a full salon-quality manicure in just 25-45 minutes. The process includes polish removal, cuticle care, nail filing, color application, and a top coat. Remarkably, the entire process requires no human intervention.

Equipped with seven precision cameras and AI computer vision, the robot creates a 3D map of each nail. This ensures flawless accuracy in every service. Each service is priced at $30 and uses single-use, recyclable manicure pods. This not only guarantees hygiene but also promotes safety.

“This pilot represents an opportunity to test and learn how emerging services might complement our existing salon offerings,” said Amiee Bayer-Thomas, Ulta’s Chief Retail Officer.

In a strategic move to make manicure services accessible “everywhere customers already are,” the company has already presold 1,000 machines. The buyers include retailers such as Nordstrom, various hotels, and gyms.
