Cessna Citation Ascend Secures FAA Certification: A New Milestone for Midsize Business Jets
Textron Aviation’s Cessna Citation Ascend has achieved a significant milestone by receiving Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) type certification on November 5, 2025. This midsize business jet is expected to enter service by the end of 2025.
The Citation Ascend is equipped with advanced Garmin G5000 avionics and autothrottle technology, featuring three 14-inch high-resolution displays and enhanced safety systems. It is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW545D engines, allowing the aircraft to reach a maximum speed of 441 knots and offer a 1,940 nautical mile range with a 900-pound full fuel payload.
The business jet can comfortably accommodate up to 12 passengers in a luxurious flat-floor cabin, inspired by the popular Citation Latitude and Longitude models. The cabin boasts:
- 15% larger windows
- 19 USB charging ports
- Wireless phone charging
- Advanced acoustic treatment for a quieter flight experience
“We sought our customers’ feedback, and the result is a business jet that offers customers the latest innovations in performance, productivity and efficiency,” said Chris Hearne, Senior Vice President of Engineering & Programs at Textron Aviation.
The Citation Ascend joins the Longitude, Latitude, CJ4 Gen2, CJ3+, and M2 Gen2, becoming the sixth model in Textron Aviation’s current Citation lineup. Since 2000, more than 1,000 Citation 560XL series aircraft have been delivered.
