Etihad Airways Embarks on Extensive Route Expansion Across Four Continents
Etihad Airways has embarked on an ambitious network expansion this week. The airline has introduced new direct flights to Hong Kong, Hanoi, Tunis, and Chiang Mai. This move marks its largest single-month route rollout in recent years.
The Abu Dhabi-based carrier commenced service to Tunis on November 1. This was closely followed by flights to Chiang Mai, Hanoi, and Hong Kong on November 3. Algiers was added to the list on November 7.
The expansion primarily utilizes the modern Airbus A321LR aircraft for most routes. This strategy allows the airline to serve underserved medium-haul markets efficiently.
CEO Antonoaldo Neves emphasized that this expansion represents nearly 45% of the UAE’s total aviation growth projected for 2025. The new routes not only strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a global hub but also support the carrier’s strategy to add ten destinations annually for the next five years.
All routes are now available for booking on Etihad.com. The airline has plans to operate over 110 aircraft by the end of the year.
