Revolutionary LED Mask by KAIST Delivers Unprecedented Skin Improvement
Researchers at South Korea’s KAIST have made a significant breakthrough in skincare technology. They’ve developed a face-conforming LED mask that delivers a 340% improvement in deep skin elasticity compared to conventional LED masks.
The innovative Face-Conforming Surface Lighting micro-LED (FSLED) mask is a game-changer in the skincare industry. It features 3,770 micro-LEDs integrated into a 3D origami structure that fits snugly to the contours of the face. This design effectively eliminates the 90% light reflection issue commonly associated with rigid LED masks.
In clinical trials involving 33 participants, the FSLED mask showed significant improvements in reducing skin wrinkles, sagging, and aging. It achieves these results by delivering uniform photostimulation to the dermis layer.
Professor Keon Jae Lee stated, “The FSLED mask provides cosmetic benefits to the entire facial dermis without side effects of low-temperature burns, making home-care anti-aging treatment possible.”
The revolutionary device will be produced by Fronics, a KAIST startup company. Distribution will be handled globally through Amorepacific’s network, with the launch set for November 2024.
The research behind this groundbreaking technology was published in Advanced Materials on October 22, 2024.
