FAA Announces Groundbreaking Air Taxi Regulations at NBAA-BACE 2024

The 2024 Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), hosted by the National Business Aviation Association, concluded in Las Vegas on October 24. This marked an “electrifying week” that officials say has paved the way for the next generation of aviation. The event’s crowning moment was when FAA Administrator Michael Whitaker introduced the much-anticipated regulatory framework for electric air taxis and other advanced air mobility (AAM) operations during the opening keynote.

“Business aviation is undergoing a transformation, driven by new technologies and innovative ideas,” stated NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. The exhibition hall featured over 800 companies, showcasing the latest in aircraft, avionics, and propulsion technologies.

  • Bombardier announced plans to produce the brand-new Global Express 8000.
  • Textron Aviation unveiled its new Gen3 line of Cessna Citation M2, CJ3, and CJ4 aircraft, equipped with Garmin’s G3000 PRIME all-touchscreen flight deck.

The industry’s dedication to sustainability was clearly visible, with three Las Vegas-area airports offering sustainable aviation fuel. This fuel has the potential to reduce aircraft emissions by up to 80%. The NBAA-BACE 2025 is set to return to Las Vegas from October 14-16, 2025.
