FDA Unveils Real-Time Cosmetic Safety Dashboard for Enhanced Consumer Transparency

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has unveiled a revolutionary public dashboard that offers real-time access to adverse event reports for cosmetic products. This marks a significant stride in regulatory transparency. The FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) Public Dashboard for Cosmetic Products enables consumers to search and view reports for a wide range of beauty items, including moisturizers, shampoos, hair dyes, and tattoos.

This user-friendly platform is updated daily with the latest submissions. It encompasses both serious adverse event reports mandated under the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022 (MoCRA) and voluntary reports from healthcare professionals and consumers. Users can filter results by severity level, date, and report type. However, the FDA emphasizes that these reports are unverified and do not substantiate safety risks.

“Americans are rightfully demanding greater insight into the safety and regulation of the cosmetic products they use every day,” stated FDA Commissioner Marty Makary. This initiative is part of the agency’s broader modernization strategy centered on transparency and public access to safety data.
