Amazon Introduces Alexa+ AI Assistant: New Echo Devices and a $19.99 Monthly Subscription

Amazon has officially unveiled Alexa+, its next-generation AI assistant. This advanced technology, powered by large language models, was announced alongside four new Echo devices. These devices are specifically designed to enhance the user experience. The announcement was made at Amazon’s 2025 Devices & Services event on October 1st.

The new Alexa+ boasts of conversational AI capabilities. These allow it to perform complex tasks such as booking reservations, controlling smart home devices, and even navigating websites autonomously. The service is priced at $19.99 per month, but is available free of charge for Amazon Prime members.

Amazon also introduced new Echo devices, including the Echo Dot Max ($100) and the redesigned Echo Studio ($220). Both devices feature custom silicon and offer improved audio quality.

“Alexa+ is the trusted assistant that can help you manage your life and your home,” said Amazon’s Panos Panay during the event. This upgrade signifies Amazon’s most significant push into AI-powered home automation. It places Amazon in direct competition with other smart assistants in an increasingly crowded market.
