Meta’s AI-Powered Smart Glasses: A New Era of Wearable Technology

Meta has made waves in the tech world with the launch of three innovative smart glasses models at its Connect 2025 conference. The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the groundbreaking Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, which are integrated with a high-resolution display and an EMG wristband controller.

With a price tag of $799, these glasses mark Meta’s debut in the consumer smart glasses market featuring a visual display. This allows users to check messages, preview photos, see translations, and interact with Meta AI without the need to glance at their phones. The Meta Neural Band that comes with the glasses translates subtle muscle movements and finger gestures into commands, offering hands-free control through electromyography technology.

Meta also introduced the sports-centric Oakley Meta Vanguard glasses priced at $499. These glasses are designed with athletes and outdoor enthusiasts in mind, boasting enhanced cameras, extended battery life, and seamless integration with popular fitness apps like Strava and Garmin.

The company’s first-generation Ray-Ban Meta glasses have already proven to be a hit, with over 2 million units sold. EssilorLuxottica reported a year-over-year sales increase of more than triple, indicating a strong market response.

The new display glasses are set to launch on September 30, solidifying Meta’s position as a frontrunner in the burgeoning smart glasses market. This comes as the company shifts its focus from VR headsets to wearable AI devices.
