FDA Unveils Real-Time Cosmetic Product Safety Dashboard for Consumers

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken a significant stride towards enhancing transparency in the beauty industry. It has introduced an interactive public dashboard that offers real-time access to adverse event reports for cosmetic products. The FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) Public Dashboard for Cosmetic Products allows consumers to access daily-updated safety data on a wide range of products, including moisturizers, shampoos, hair dyes, and tattoos.

Launched on September 12, 2025, the dashboard incorporates both mandatory serious adverse event reports required under the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022 (MoCRA) and voluntary reports from healthcare professionals, consumers, and salon professionals. The dashboard provides users with the convenience of searching by product name, adverse event type, severity level, and date. Moreover, it also offers the capability to download complete datasets.

“Americans are rightfully demanding greater insight into the safety and regulation of the cosmetic products they use every day. This real-time dashboard is a great step in our efforts to deliver greater transparency,” stated FDA Commissioner Marty Makary. However, the agency emphasized that the reports have not been verified and their inclusion does not imply that the FDA has concluded a product caused the adverse event.
