Avelo Airlines Makes History with $4.4 Billion Embraer E195-E2 Jets Order
Avelo Airlines has made aviation history by becoming the first U.S. carrier to order Embraer’s largest and most advanced commercial aircraft, the E195-E2. The startup airline announced a firm order for 50 E195-E2 aircraft with purchase rights for 50 more, valued at $4.4 billion at list prices.
This deal marks a significant milestone for Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer, representing its first E2 series sale to a U.S. operator. Aircraft deliveries are expected to begin in the first half of 2027, supporting Avelo’s strategy to deliver affordable and convenient travel across the United States.
The E195-E2 features:
- Exceptional fuel efficiency
- Quiet operations
- Short-field capability through Embraer’s proprietary Enhanced Takeoff System (E2TS)
In addition, the aircraft offers passengers a comfortable 2×2 seating configuration, in-seat power ports, large overhead bins, and quieter cabins compared to older jets.
“We are thrilled to partner with Embraer and bring this best-in-class small narrowbody airplane to the United States marketplace,” said Avelo CEO Andrew Levy. The order will modernize Avelo’s current fleet of 22 Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft while improving cost efficiency and network reach.
