Qantas Expands Perth-Rome Service, Nearly Doubling Capacity for 2026 Travel Season

Australian airline Qantas has announced a significant expansion of its popular Perth to Rome service for the 2026 travel season. The seasonal route will be extended by eight weeks, with frequency increasing from three to four flights per week during peak season. The extended season, starting on May 3, 2026, and running until October 23, will add more than 40 extra services and nearly 10,000 additional seats.

Since its launch in 2022, the route has carried over 70,000 passengers, marking it as the first nonstop flight between Australia and continental Europe.

Flight Schedule

Services will operate three times weekly (Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday) from May-June and September-October. During the peak summer months of June-September, the frequency will increase to four weekly flights, with an additional flight on Saturday.

Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace highlighted that over half of the passengers originate from eastern Australia. The Rome flights have been timed to connect seamlessly through Perth. This expansion is a part of Qantas’s broader strategy to offer nearly 300,000 seats connecting major European capitals with Perth in 2026.
