SoulCycle Co-founder Takes on Role as WeightWatchers’ Chief Experience Officer

WeightWatchers made a significant announcement on Wednesday, revealing the addition of SoulCycle co-founder Julie Rice to their leadership team as the first Chief Experience Officer. The wellness giant also announced the acquisition of Rice’s wellness startup, Peoplehood.

Rice, known for revolutionizing the fitness industry with SoulCycle, is set to lead WeightWatchers’ global workshop business. This department currently supports over 20,000 meetings monthly across 11 different markets. The acquisition of Peoplehood will allow the integration of its community-driven wellness platform, including specialized GLP-1 and menopause support programs, into the WeightWatchers’ ecosystem.

CEO Tara Comonte expressed the company’s excitement about the new addition. “Community has always been at the heart of WeightWatchers,” she said. “As weight management becomes more complex, particularly with the rise of medications, support and connection matter more than ever.” The appointment of Rice comes at a pivotal time for WeightWatchers, as the company emerges from bankruptcy with a renewed focus on holistic health platforms. These platforms combine clinical support, behavioral science, and community engagement.

The move represents a significant milestone for Rice, who was a longtime WeightWatchers member and board member for over seven years before launching Peoplehood in 2023.
