ISRO Selects Muks Robotics for Development of SPACEO Prime, India’s First Space Humanoid

In a significant development for India’s space and robotics sectors, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has chosen the Pune-based startup, Muks Robotics, to create SPACEO Prime. This project is touted as India’s inaugural humanoid space worker and the world’s first humanoid specifically designed for space operations.

The announcement, made on October 16, 2026, signifies a crucial milestone in India’s burgeoning space economy. SPACEO Prime, a bipedal humanoid platform, is designed to function autonomously in extreme conditions. It will assist astronauts in performing tasks that are hazardous, repetitive, or physically demanding. The robot is powered by FusionMax AGI, the company’s proprietary system, which integrates vision, voice, language, and action capabilities entirely offline.

Dr. Mukesh Bangar, a self-taught AI and robotics engineer, founded Muks Robotics in 2021. The company has always aimed to expand humanoid robotics beyond Earth, with stated goals that include eventual missions to the Moon and Mars. This ISRO project aligns with India’s broader “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (self-reliance) initiative and the nation’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

This development underscores India’s rapidly evolving capabilities in artificial intelligence, robotics, and space technology on the global stage.
