Delta Air Lines: Pioneering Nonstop Flights from U.S. to Riyadh
Delta Air Lines is setting a new milestone in aviation this month, as it launches the first-ever nonstop flight between the United States and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, operated by a U.S. carrier in over a quarter of a century.
The inaugural service is set to take off on October 23, 2026, connecting Delta’s home base at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) directly to King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh. The airline will initially operate the route daily from October 23–30, before transitioning to a three-times-weekly schedule on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
All flights will be serviced by Delta’s flagship Airbus A350-900 wide-body aircraft, offering four cabin options: Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin. With a distance of over 7,000 miles, this route is among Delta’s longest in its global network.
This launch aligns with Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Vision 2030 strategy, which aims to position Riyadh as a premier global business and tourism destination. Delta CEO Ed Bastian remarked: “Launching service to Riyadh marks a key step in Delta’s global growth as we start our second century of flight.”
Despite softer-than-expected initial ticket sales due to regional tensions, the airline remains committed to the route, citing its long-term strategic value in bridging the two economies.
