McFarlane Aviation Expands Backcountry GA Portfolio with Airglas Acquisition

McFarlane Aviation, a subsidiary of Victor Sierra Company, has recently acquired Airglas, Inc., an Anchorage, Alaska-based manufacturer known for its fiberglass skis, heavy-duty nose forks, and cargo and fuel pods. These products are widely utilized in backcountry and military aviation operations. The acquisition, announced on September 30, 2026, significantly expands McFarlane’s general aviation aftermarket products and strengthens its presence in the Alaskan market.

For decades, Airglas has been a trusted name among bush pilots operating in challenging terrains such as snow, gravel, and tundra. Despite the change in ownership, the company will maintain its manufacturing operations in Anchorage with the existing team. This ensures continuity for its loyal customer base. Airglas products are now readily available through McFarlane Alaska, with plans for broader distribution through McFarlane Aviation’s extensive network in the pipeline.

This acquisition complements McFarlane’s existing backcountry aviation offerings, which include Alaskan Bushwheels, tailwheel suspension systems, and landing gear for Cessna, Piper, Maule, and Husky aircraft. It follows McFarlane’s earlier 2026 acquisitions of Alaskan Bushwheels and Airframes Alaska from Alaska Gear Company. Scott Still, President and CEO of Victor Sierra, expressed that the deal “strengthens our commitment to the Alaska market, expands our general aviation and military business, and advances our mission to keep customers flying.” For bush pilots worldwide, this change promises wider and faster access to specialized equipment designed for the world’s most demanding flying environments.
