Microsoft Unveils Copilot Super App: A Unified AI Platform to Challenge Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini
Microsoft has officially announced a comprehensive revamp of its Copilot platform. The platform has been transformed into a unified, all-encompassing AI super app, designed to compete directly with Anthropic’s Claude, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and Google Gemini. The redesigned application integrates previously dispersed AI tools, including consumer Copilot, GitHub Copilot, and enterprise agents, into a single, unified product for both personal and business use.
The new Copilot app is structured around three primary sections: Home, which merges AI chat with Microsoft’s Cowork agent for productivity tasks; Code, which empowers users to create their own apps and tools simply by describing them in plain language; and Autopilot, where users can set up always-on AI agents to work autonomously in the background. Notably, full versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are now embedded directly inside Copilot, eliminating the need to switch between applications.
Microsoft has started rolling out the unified experience to a select group of Windows Insiders this week, with a wider worldwide rollout planned in the upcoming weeks. This announcement signifies a direct strategic response to rivals who have been bundling chat, coding, and AI agents into seamless platforms and marketing them to Microsoft’s core enterprise customers. The company continues to leverage models from both OpenAI and Anthropic within the app, while also providing its own cost-efficient model options for select tasks.
