Finnair Amplifies Tokyo Flights to Three Daily for Summer 2027
Finnish airline, Finnair, has recently declared a significant increase in capacity to Japan. This includes adding extra frequencies on its Helsinki–Tokyo Narita route for the summer of 2027. The airline plans to operate up to three daily flights between Helsinki and Tokyo during peak travel periods. This combines two daily Narita departures with the existing daily service to Tokyo Haneda.
The additional Narita flights are set to operate from May 12 to August 14, 2027. This will elevate Finnair’s total Japan services from 28 weekly flights in the summer of 2026 to up to 32 weekly flights in the summer of 2027. Currently, the airline serves Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya and holds the distinction of being the only European carrier flying direct to Nagoya.
Christine Rovelli, Finnair’s Chief Revenue Officer, confirmed that “Japan is our biggest market after Finland, and demand for flights to Japan has remained strong.” The new Narita flights are already generating buzz among frequent flyer enthusiasts. Reportedly, they are wide-open for Avios business class redemptions at 125,000 Avios return per person from Helsinki. This presents an unusually accessible sweet spot in premium travel rewards.
