Bye Aerospace’s Revolutionary All-Electric eFlyer 2 Soars in its Maiden Flight

In a significant milestone for sustainable aviation, Denver-based Bye Aerospace has triumphantly completed the inaugural flight of its all-electric eFlyer 2 training aircraft. This event marks a substantial leap forward in the pursuit of zero-emission pilot training globally.

The conforming prototype, bearing the registration N400EF, took flight from Centennial Airport near Denver on September 24, 2026. With chief test pilot Elliot Seguin at the helm, this event officially launched the aircraft’s FAA certification flight test program. Rod Zastrow, CEO of Bye Aerospace, reported that the flight “exceeded all expectations” in terms of aerodynamics, handling, propulsion, and overall performance, with no maintenance discrepancies noted.

Specifically designed for the flight training market, the eFlyer 2 boasts a lightweight composite airframe. It is powered by a Safran ENGINeUS electric motor, coupled with approximately 92 kWh of lithium-ion battery packs. The company asserts that the aircraft can reduce operating costs by up to 80% compared to traditional trainers. Additionally, it recharges in under 30 minutes and produces zero in-flight emissions. Bye Aerospace currently holds orders and letters of intent for over 1,100 aircraft across four continents, highlighting the enormous market demand for cleaner, more affordable flight training solutions.

The successful maiden flight propels the eFlyer 2 towards full FAA Part 23 certification and eventual customer deliveries. This achievement could revolutionize how the next generation of pilots learns to fly.
