Bye Aerospace’s eFlyer 2 Soars, Pledging 80% Reduction in Operating Costs

In a significant stride towards sustainable aviation, Bye Aerospace has triumphantly executed the inaugural flight of its fully electric eFlyer 2 training aircraft at Centennial Airport, located near Denver, Colorado. This pivotal flight, which took place on September 24, 2026, was helmed by Bye Aerospace’s chief test pilot, Elliot Seguin. This event signifies the formal commencement of the aircraft’s FAA certification flight test program.

The eFlyer 2, specifically engineered for the flight training market, is propelled by a Safran ENGINeUS electric motor and boasts a lightweight all-composite airframe. As per the company’s claims, the aircraft is set to slash operating costs by a staggering 80% in comparison to traditional trainer aircraft, all the while producing zero in-flight emissions. Additionally, the aircraft can be fully recharged in less than 30 minutes.

Rod Zastrow, CEO of Bye Aerospace, expressed that the maiden flight surpassed all anticipations in terms of aerodynamics, handling, propulsion, and overall performance. Notably, no maintenance discrepancies were reported during the flight. The company currently holds orders and letters of intent for approximately 1,100 aircraft spanning four continents, which underscores the immense market demand for zero-emission pilot training solutions.

With the successful completion of the first flight, Bye Aerospace is now poised to advance towards full FAA Part 23 certification and customer deliveries. This positions the eFlyer 2 as a potential game-changer for flight schools across the globe.
