AMD Shatters $1 Trillion Milestone in Historic AI Chip Market Rally
In a groundbreaking moment for the semiconductor industry, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) surpassed a $1 trillion market capitalization for the first time. This achievement came on the back of a robust five-day winning streak that propelled its stock nearly 10% to an all-time intraday high of $615.52.
This milestone positions AMD as the fourth U.S. chipmaker to join the trillion-dollar club, alongside Nvidia, Broadcom, and Micron. This impressive feat is fueled by escalating investor demand for AI computing hardware. AMD’s stock has seen an increase of over 180% in 2026 alone, with a rise of approximately 30% in September.
The optimism also spilled over to the broader semiconductor sector. Intel saw a rise of as much as 12%, while Arm Holdings experienced gains of up to 14% in the same session. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index climbed more than 4%, marking its fifth consecutive session of gains.
Under the leadership of CEO Lisa Su, AMD operates across Data Center, Client, Gaming, and Embedded segments. The company, a direct competitor to Nvidia and Intel, has set ambitious targets. It aims to secure $120 billion in AI revenue from a projected $1 trillion AI market by 2030.
Despite the market euphoria, some analysts advise caution. They point out that AMD’s current valuation significantly surpasses its estimated intrinsic value, with a P/E ratio of nearly 158 — well above its five-year median.
