Snap’s AR Glasses: A $2,195 Enterprise Venture with Nvidia, AWS & Salesforce

Snap recently unveiled a significant enterprise initiative for its Specs augmented reality glasses. In a strategic partnership with tech giants Nvidia, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Salesforce, Snap aims to transform the $2,195 wearable into a hands-free computing platform for the workplace.

The collaborations are aimed at delivering AI-powered capabilities directly to frontline workers across various sectors such as retail, manufacturing, and field services. Salesforce will incorporate its Agentforce AI platform into Specs, empowering employees to identify objects, log issues, surface CRM data, and update workflows — all without the need for a separate screen.

AWS is linking Specs to its Amazon Quick AI assistant, facilitating voice-activated queries about inventory and other workplace data. Simultaneously, Nvidia is driving the underlying spatial intelligence through its XR AI platform, enabling the glasses to interpret a worker’s visual environment and provide real-time guidance.

Snap CEO Evan Spiegel views the enterprise shift as a crucial step towards altering public perception of the device. He emphasizes that the company wants people to comprehend that “Specs is a computer, not a pair of smart glasses for taking photos.” Following the announcement, Snap shares witnessed a rise of more than 4% in extended trading.

The announcement arrives amidst increasing competition in the AR wearable space, with Meta maintaining a dominant market position. Specs are scheduled to ship in the US, UK, and France this fall, and Snap is optimistic that the heavyweight partner lineup will assist in penetrating a corporate market that has remained elusive for AR devices for years.
