Blackwing of Sweden Launches U.S. Orders Under FAA’s MOSAIC Framework

Swedish light aircraft manufacturer Blackwing has officially entered the U.S. market. The company is now accepting orders for its MOSAIC-eligible aircraft following the FAA’s Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification (MOSAIC) rule. This rule took full effect on July 24, 2026. Blackwing is quoting an estimated 18-month delivery time for U.S.-bound aircraft.

Blackwing announced that its American MOSAIC aircraft will be equipped with Garmin’s newly launched AXIS flight display. This is a first-of-its-kind system that integrates a primary flight display (PFD), multifunction display (MFD), IFR GPS, NAV/COMM radio, and audio panel into a single unit. Garmin unveiled the AXIS family in July 2026, with 11.6-inch displays already carrying FAA and EASA TSO authorization.

With nearly 50 Blackwing aircraft already operating across Europe, the manufacturer’s U.S. market push signals growing momentum for MOSAIC-class aircraft. The new FAA framework is widely seen as a transformative moment for personal and sport aviation in America. It opens the door to a new generation of capable, modern light-sport aircraft.
