European Sleeper Unveils Scenic Brussels–Milan Night Train Service
A new era of sustainable European rail travel has dawned with the launch of European Sleeper‘s overnight service. This Dutch-Belgian community-owned train operator has introduced an exciting route connecting Brussels, Cologne, Zürich, and Milan. The service, which began on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, marks their third international night train route.
The train departs Brussels-Midi on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday evenings. It travels south through Liège, Aachen, and Cologne, before crossing the Swiss border. The journey continues along the historic Gotthard Pass route, passing through Zürich, Lugano, and Lake Como, and concludes at Milan’s centrally located Porta Garibaldi station the following morning. The scenic Alpine crossing through Switzerland is expected to be a highlight of the journey, offering breathtaking views of mountain valleys and lakes.
The ticket prices are budget-friendly. A shared Classic couchette compartment starts from just €49.99 one-way. Comfort Plus fares, which include breakfast, begin at €129.99. Interrail and Eurail Global Passes are also valid on the service with an advance reservation. From December 2026, the route will be extended to include stops at Antwerp, Breda, and Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
With this launch, European Sleeper is positioning itself as a growing force in low-carbon cross-border travel. It links major economic and cultural hubs across Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy, with onward connections to London, Amsterdam, Venice, Florence, and Rome.
