Historic Pilot Training Campus Launched by Thrust Flight & Hampton University
Leading Texas-based aviation training provider, Thrust Flight, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Hampton University’s Department of Aviation in Virginia. This collaboration marks the establishment of Thrust Flight’s inaugural East Coast campus, paving the way for future pilots and aviation mechanics.
The newly established campus, situated at Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (PHF) in Virginia, is the central hub for Hampton University’s Flight Education curriculum. As part of the agreement, Thrust Flight provides Private, Instrument, Commercial, and Flight Instructor training under its own FAA Part 141 certificate to Hampton students. The training is conducted in Piper Archer and Seminole aircraft. Graduates are provided opportunities through Thrust Flight’s partnerships with regional carriers, including SkyWest and Envoy Air.
The partnership is divided into two phases:
- In Phase 1, Thrust Flight functions as Hampton’s authorized provider.
- In Phase 2, Thrust Flight will guide Hampton in obtaining its own FAA Part 141 Pilot School certificate, enabling the university to independently manage its flight program.
In addition to the pilot training, the campus offers an Aircraft & Powerplant (A&P) mechanic training program, open to the general public. This program can be completed in approximately 10 to 12 months. The inaugural classes commenced for the Fall 2026 term on August 26.
