Revival of EAA’s One Week Wonder: Constructing a Zenith CH 750 in Just Seven Days

There’s a thrilling update for homebuilding aviation enthusiasts: The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) has officially declared the comeback of its immensely popular One Week Wonder aircraft-building project at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2027. This marks the fourth occurrence of the event in the past 15 years, with previous builds in 2014, 2018, and 2022.

For this iteration, AirVenture attendees will collaboratively construct a brand-new Zenith CH 750 Super Cruzer. This design, which was recently unveiled to the public at AirVenture 2026, is an all-metal, high-wing, tricycle-gear aircraft. It boasts roomy side-by-side seating with a rear jump seat, an 800-pound useful load, and a maximum gross weight of 1,900 pounds. The construction is set to begin on July 26, 2027, coinciding with the opening day of AirVenture, with an aim to complete it by August 1. Participants will have the opportunity to assist with tasks such as riveting and even vote on the aircraft’s paint scheme.

Upon completion, the finished Zenith will be donated to the Aspiring Aviators Aero Club of Winter Haven, Florida. It will serve as a flight training resource and an educational tool to inspire the next generation of pilots. “This project epitomizes the power of hands-on learning, mentorship, and teamwork,” stated club president Brian Hughes.
