Volare Hangars Announces Ambitious 80-Acre Expansion at Oshkosh Airport

The renowned location of the world’s premier airshow, Wittman Regional Airport, is poised to become an even more significant aviation destination all year round. Volare Hangars has unveiled preliminary site designs for an ambitious 80-acre expansion at the Oshkosh Aviation Park — a project set to metamorphose the historic airfield into a bustling center for aviation businesses, corporate operators, and private pilots.

The conceptual blueprint, a collaborative effort with Winnebago County, the City of Oshkosh, and the Greater Oshkosh Economic Development Corporation (GOEDC), encompasses eight buildings. These offer a diverse range of hangar configurations, from expansive 200×200-foot aviation business spaces to large corporate hangars (150×150 ft and 85×85 ft), and even personal hangars as compact as 50×40 feet.

Among the notable amenities planned are rooftop viewing decks providing panoramic vistas of the airfield and a prime viewing spot for the EAA AirVenture, the annual fly-in convention that attracted a record-breaking 704,000 visitors in 2025. The development will also feature a fuel farm, dedicated taxiway, secure long-term parking, and an aircraft wash bay.

Winnebago County has already committed to a 50-year lease with Volare Hangars, at no expense to taxpayers. Construction is expected to commence in 2028, subject to final approvals. Volare Hangars currently boasts completed, under-construction, and approved projects amounting to over 1.5 million square feet of aviation space nationwide.
