Zenith Aircraft Marks 35th Anniversary with September Homecoming Fly-In
Kit aircraft enthusiasts and homebuilders across the United States are eagerly anticipating one of General Aviation’s most cherished annual events: the 35th Annual Zenith Aircraft Homecoming, Open Hangar Days & Fly-In. This event is scheduled for September 18–19, 2026, at the company’s kit manufacturing factory at Mexico Memorial Airport (KMYJ) in Mexico, Missouri.
The two-day event serves as a grand reunion for Zenith customers nationwide. Many of them will arrive in their own completed Zenith kit aircraft — aircraft whose parts and components were manufactured right at the Mexico factory. The event is packed with activities including:
- Educational seminars and workshops
- An aircraft show
- Flying demonstrations
- Hands-on factory tours
- Contests
- A popular outdoor banquet dinner on Friday evening
One of the highlights this year will be a presentation by Charlie Becker, the EAA’s Director of Chapters and Homebuilt Community Manager. He will cover pressing government topics affecting sport aircraft owners and builders. These include the Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification (MOSAIC), task-based Phase 1 flight testing, BasicMed, and ongoing fuel issues. Hands-on workshop classes are also scheduled at the factory on September 16–17, immediately before the main event.
The Zenith Homecoming is presented by the Chris Heintz Foundation, in honor of the legacy of aeronautical engineer Chris Heintz, founder of the beloved STOL and light sport aircraft line.
