Brisbane Airport Sets New Record with 25.2M Passengers in FY2026
Australia’s Brisbane Airport (BNE) has set a new passenger record, welcoming a staggering 25,246,950 travelers in the Financial Year 2026. This represents an increase of over one million passengers, or a 4% year-on-year growth, solidifying its position as Queensland’s primary international gateway and a significant global tourism hub.
The airport’s International Terminal experienced particularly robust growth, with passenger numbers climbing 7.9% to 7,080,057. Meanwhile, the Domestic Terminal handled 18,166,893 travelers, marking an increase of 2.5%.
- The standout performer was mainland China, which saw an extraordinary surge of 51.1% — an additional 137,710 Chinese travelers chose Brisbane as their destination.
- Singapore’s Changi Airport also made history by becoming the first single international gateway to send over one million passengers to Brisbane in a single year.
Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff praised the results, stating they underscore “the growing appeal of Brisbane as a destination, and the important role aviation plays in connecting people, supporting tourism and enabling economic growth across the state.”
The airport is currently investing A$5 billion (approx. US$3.5 billion) over five years through its Future BNE program to expand infrastructure ahead of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
