Most Beauty Consumers Lack a Long-Term Aesthetic Strategy, NewBeauty® Report Reveals
A groundbreaking industry report released this week by NewBeauty® uncovers a significant gap in the way Americans approach cosmetic care. Despite the fact that almost all consumers are receptive to aesthetic treatments, very few have a long-term plan in place.
The report, titled The State of Aesthetics: By the Numbers Summer 2026, is driven by NewBeauty’s proprietary BeautyEngine™ insights platform. It discovered that a mere 9.1% of respondents adhere to a long-term treatment plan with a provider. This is in contrast to the 93% who are open to some form of aesthetic treatment. The study found that 35.4% stick to one procedure at a time, 25.5% book only when they feel like it, and 31.5% manage multiple concerns without a clear guiding strategy.
The report, which is based on Q2 2026 BeautyEngine surveys, sheds light on how factors such as AI, GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, and menopause are transforming beauty decisions. Almost half of the surveyed GLP-1 users have lost at least 20 pounds, with loose or sagging skin being their main concern (42%), followed by muscle tone (40.4%). Among menopause patients, over 76% desire energy-based treatments to address skin and body changes.
Prevention has emerged as the leading aesthetic goal. A total of 72.6% of respondents cited preventing future signs of aging as their primary objective. This was followed by improving skin quality (64.8%) and skin tightening (58.4%). Neurotoxin injections are the most popular near-term treatment plans at 67.3%, while peptide therapies are the most sought-after longevity treatments consumers want to explore.
