Brisbane Airport Celebrates Record-Breaking 25.2 Million Passengers in FY26
Brisbane Airport (BNE) has marked its most bustling year to date, greeting a remarkable 25,246,950 passengers in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. This signifies an increase of over one million travelers, or 4.0%, compared to the preceding year. This achievement reinforces Brisbane’s position as Queensland’s primary international gateway and a burgeoning powerhouse in Asia-Pacific aviation.
International traffic was the standout performer, escalating 7.9% to reach 7,080,057 passengers — the first instance international traveler numbers have exceeded seven million at the airport. Domestic numbers also saw an increase, rising 2.5% to 18,166,893 passengers.
- The most significant growth story originated from Mainland China, which surfaced as the airport’s fastest-growing international market. Passenger numbers soared an exceptional 51.1%, adding more than 137,710 additional travelers.
- Singapore’s Changi Airport also made history by becoming the first single airport to send over one million passengers to Brisbane in a year.
Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff attributed the record result to airline confidence in Queensland. Looking to the future, the airport is progressing with its $5 billion Future BNE transformation program. This includes significant terminal upgrades and a new Terminal 3 precinct, all in preparation for the dramatically increased demand anticipated for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
